This amateur production of “The Murder Room” is presented by special arrangement with SAMUEL FRENCH LTD With assistance from the Arts Council of North Herts.
This very funny play is set in an English country house which (naturally) is owned by a member of the landed gentry whose new gold-digging bride has much to hide. His delightfully dozy daughter has hooked an American Millionaire but not a lot gets past the faithful housekeeper. Chuck in a couple of policemen - one of whom bears a striking resemblance to the gentleman - and you have a recipe for an evening of sheer fun and entertainment.

Performances are on Thursday 21st and Friday 22nd June 2018 at St Paul’s Church Hall, Pixmore Way, Letchworth. Doors open at 7:15pm to give you plenty of time to take your seats and enjoy pre-show refreshments. The curtain goes up at 7:45pm and there will be an interval during which drinks will be served.
Seating is arranged at tables with a maximum of eight per table. Bookings can be made for complete tables or individual places, as required. Please book early to avoid disappointment.more
When young orphan Dick Whittington goes to London to seek his fortune, an exciting adventure unfolds. Not only does he meet Tommy, a very special cat, who soon becomes his best friend - but he also falls in love with the beautiful Alice. When Dick gets a job working for Alice’s father, Alderman Fitzwarren, he really feels his luck has begun to change…until the evil King Rat and his two horrible side-kicks, Onion and Garlic launch a plot to try and ruin him.
Dick’s adventures take him on a dramatic journey on board a ship and to a palace in Morocco. Eventually, with the help of a magic Fairy, Dick proves himself to be a hero and back in London, he finally finds his true destiny.
In this exciting tale of love and friendship, peril is never too far away, but good will always triumph in the end. The local Vicar has sadly passed and the village eagerly awaits his replacement. When Geraldine Grainger arrives, she is definitely not what was expected! The pompous parish council chairman David Horton is catergorically opposed to the newcomer but the rest of the locals are much more welcoming.
All your favourite characters are here: Jim Trott: “no, no, no, yes,yes”, Hugo and Alice performing their gentle courtship dance; Mrs Cropley conjuring up her wonderful delicacies; Owen taking notes and earthy local farmer Frank bemoaning his digestive system.
